Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
