From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
